The MC-500 is a Multispot and multicolour photocoagulator laser (green 532 nm, yellow 577 nm and red 674 nm) fitted on a slit lamp and designed to photocoagulation, pan- photocoagulation, trabeculoplasty and iridotomy treatments. It can be fitted with a subthreshold treatment module, the LPM (Low Power Mode), available with a yellow 527 nm wavelength.
The multicolour MC-500 can be used with three wavelengths: green 532 nm, yellow 577 nm and red 674 nm. Each colour has its own characteristics, thus influencing the clinical applications.
Thanks to its panel and its independent interface, specially designed to use a laser beam, the MC-500 is a user-friendly robust product.
In Monospot mode, directly set up the parameters of the laser impact from the control panel, to optimise the treatment: power, exposition time, frequency of impacts in a series, etc.
In Multispot mode, the MC-500 proposes 22 different point grids (adjustable shape, size and distance), directly accessible via a single click. To set up the parameters, you can also use the 3D mouse and its 10 settable buttons, depending on the user’s preferences.
To ensure an homogeneous treatment, different patterns of equidistant laser impacts (ESP) are available amongst the 22 proposals provided. You mays also use the AutoForward mode, which proposes a series of identical patterns, stitched to cover a larger area, with automatic repositioning of the laser beam after each delivered pattern.
Once combined, these two features are used to uniformly distribute the energy over the entire retinal zone, to optimise the results of the treatment, while minimising harmful consequences.
The MC-500 is user-friendlier and proposes different items to customise it, to optimise the treatment time, and make the use easier, such as saving the treatment parameters, the grids of points of the magnifications of the examination magnifying glasses. Therefore the laser adapts to any user’s profile.
Once the surgery is completed, a report is displayed to summarise the treatment global parameters. This report can be saved to the key card, not saved or transferred to a computer via a LAN connexion.

The LMP makes possible a less aggressive low-energy and high-density treatment, limiting any important heating of retinal tissues, for a medicinal effect.
The LPM is particularly recommended for the macular oedema cases. It proposes a matrix of laser impacts especially dedicated to this application. The matrix Arcad Grid allows the automatic positioning of concentric rings form the center to the periphery, to focus on the oedema.
