The HandyRef is a portable auto-refractometer offering more mobility to the practitioner. The HandyRef-K includes the measure of the keratometry, useful to adapt contact lenses.
The portable model of auto-refractometer HandyRef is used to obtain the objective refraction of the patient (even when he/she is lying).
Coupling the SLD (Super Luminescent Diod) and the high-sensibility CCD sensor enables getting sharp and contrast images, even when the corneal reflection is low. The cataract mode automatically triggers when the readings are not in standard mode. The device calculates automatically, during the reading of the refraction, the diameters of the pupil and provides a confidence index of the reading. Measuring the small pupils, from a diameter of 2 mm, is possible.
Once the alignment and the focus are optimal, the readings are automatically taken. An alignment indicator is displayed to make the reading easier.
The HandyRef-K of auto-refracto-keratometer model includes the measurement of the keratometry (measurement of the corneal radius curvature). The keratometry is a useful reading in contactology to identify the radius curvature of contact lenses. Measuring the peripheral keratometry is also available.
The ‘Quick’ mode makes possible performing easier and quicker readings, for patients who find difficult to maintain their fixation. A tune can be triggered to draw the patient’s attention and keep the children quiet.
The retro-illumination feature is also available, thus offering the possibility to observe opacities, to control the transparency of the media and to check the position of intraocular implants.
Thanks to the different connections (WIFI, infrared, network cable, USB drive), to its long lifespan and to its internal memory, there is a true working autonomy.
Transferring the data of the objective refraction to a NIDEK automatic refractor can be performed through a cable network or a NIDEK EyeCare card.
